Day two was the best day of the two day camp. The #1 and #2 AlaskaPreps.com ranked players showed up and put on a shooting, rebounding, passing & dunking clinic. APC #1 ranked player, Dimond Sr. F 6'4 Chris Plooy had an array of moves in the paint looking very sharp and finishing with some strong nasty dunks. The #2 ranked APC player, Dimond Sr. PG 6'3 Colton Lauwers was on fire from behind the 3-point line, shooting 8 of 9 from behind the arch at one point. He was also dishing the rock finding open men on the fast break and on half court sets.
Nome's Jr. SG 6'1 Jeremy Head took his game to another level and showed he is very athletic and a triple threat with a lot of penetrating moves to the basket, passer and shooter. He also showed some hops grabbing key rebounds.
Monroe's Sr. F 6'7 Michael Stepovich, Wasilla's Jr. post 6'8 John Knowles and Petersburg's Sr. F 6'6 Jordan Birchell raised their games to another level and their presence of play to dominate the paint, block shots, control the boards and displays lots of hustle.
The Alaska ball players turned a lot of heads today. Even camp director Jeremy Russotti was delighted with the intensity and aggressiveness of the games played today.
Lauwers was smooth and stood out from the bunch showing his floor leadership, getting rebounds and leading the fast breaks, displaying good court vision and shooting lights out from behind the 3-point line with regularity.
This was an exposure showcase camp and those in attendance were entertained by games that were played at a high level.
