7 on 7 Passing League at Dimond HS
Dimond High School opened with their annual Football Summer Passing League which will be held at Dimond HS every Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Dimond, West, Bartlett and East High schools were in attendance for the opening.
Teams warmed-up working out of their passing tree, running different routes. You could hear some trash talking with some players tryin to set the tone. A lot of these players played against each other last year and are now preparing for the new season.
Two teams had rookie head coaches, West's Tim Davis and East's Nick Middleton who is a former T-bird player.
As the passing league progressed, some nice catches began to unfold and the defense was going through their basic drop coverage's. I witnessed about three pick six's and some eye opening touchdown catches. East Sr. WR Caleb Holley was the most polished receiver on the field. Also, Dimond's Sr. RB/DB Gibson Scanlan looked impressive coming off an injury from last season.

Photo FeatureOverall the teams looked pretty good coming out of winter and spring conditioning and weight training programs, which will continue through the summer. Now they have a chance to run their offense and defensive schemes against other competition. Next week should be set for more intense football action.
